Torrevieja
Torrevieja is the most famous city south of Alicante. Not so long ago, it was a small salt village and fishing port that has now turned into a medium-sized city of just over 100,000 inhabitants with around 180 different nationalities in a very lively urban environment. Half of the residents here were born outside of Spain.In addition to fine sandy beaches and beautiful promenades, there is a large selection of shops, restaurants and bars as well as a rich nightlife. Torrevieja is located 43 km south of Alicante airport and people from all over the world have been attracted here mainly by the healthy microclimate with 320 sunny days per year and an average temperature between 18-25 degrees for most of the year, but also by the opportunities that a multicultural tourist paradise provides. Here you can find everything you could need to live and live all year round. Torrevieja's coast is long and beautiful, with many fine beaches that are interrupted in parts by impressive cliffs. To the south are Playa los Naufragos and Playa del Acequion; two nice beaches with lifeguards and several chiringitos - small bars that serve food and drinks directly on the beach. Along the Paseo in the center is the Paseo Martimo Juan Aparicio, which is followed to the north by Playa del Cura and Playa de los Locos; two very popular beaches. Here, too, there are lifeguards and chiringitos.Salt, fishing and tourism are the main occupations and from one of the two salt lakes, salt is exported to the whole world. The other has been a nature reserve for several years with walking paths that go through lemon and orange groves.On the outskirts of Torrevieja are the two salt lakes and there you can see flamingos strolling around.Even the harbors with their 300 fishing boats and approx. 900 private boats are well worth a visit and every Friday there is a market in the center and it can probably be counted as the largest market on the coast with around 1200 stalls with fruit, vegetables, food, clothes, shoes, carpets, fabric, crafts, jewellery, spices, locally produced cheeses and much more.The cultural offer is large and there is always something to celebrate with local fiestas and carnivals. Everything you need is here all year round, such as shopping malls, restaurants, sports facilities, theaters and culture centers, water park, amusement park and amusement park, discos, mini golf courses, markets, modern hospitals, medical centers and pharmacies.Bus connections with Alicante and San Javier (Murcia) airports and surrounding towns and cities. Fast trains/trains to large parts of Spain from Alicante which can be reached within 45 minutes.
